Sean Johnson, a champion for economic development in Washington County is expanding his focus to encompass the entire Greater Omaha region.
Effective October 1, Sean Johnson will begin work as the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership’s Senior Director for Business Attraction, a position responsible for ensuring the creation of jobs and new investment throughout Greater Omaha. Johnson has spent the last two years serving as Executive Director of Partnership member Gateway Development Corporation, Washington County’s economic development organization.
Johnson succeeds Winsley Durand who was appointed to lead the REACH program, a new collaboration that will help small and emerging businesses build capacity and respond to increased contracting opportunities.
Born and raised in Council Bluffs, Johnson holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He received his undergraduate degree from Dana College, where he played on the men’s varsity basketball team. Prior to moving to the Greater Omaha region, he served as an economic development project manager with the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce in Lawrence, KS.
