Volunteer at MICAH House as a Mentor in the BUDDY Program

MICAH House (www.themicahhouse.org) is looking for more volunteers to be a part of their BUDDY Program. The BUDDY Program stands for Build Upon Dreams and Develop Youngsters and is available for children of adult clients who have regular programming classes throughout the day and evenings during the work week.

BUDDY Program is not just a child-watch program. Staff and volunteers of the program are specially trained in trauma-informed care. Just like all kids, MICAH House kids grow through active play and healthy socialization. Volunteers that work with MICAH House kids have opportunities to be a healthy presence during this transitional living situation. Often volunteers become mentors and listening ears during play time, reading, and crafts.

BUDDY Program helps give parents peace of mind while they attend classes. It also offers valuable developmental interactions with children ages 1-10. If you are interested in becoming a BUDDY volunteer or learning more about the program, please contact Kayla Terrillion, child program specialist at kterrillion@themicahhouse.org or (712) 323-4416 ext. 2102.
