His presentation was entitled “Walk Forever Free: 500 Miles to Freedom.”
Morris is the president of Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives and delivered a dynamic presentation about the history of his famous family and the pressure he felt growing up in the shadow of his esteemed ancestors. His presentation included stories of his work today fighting against modern slavery.
The Walk Forever Free message was presented in conjunction with Arlington High School history teacher Barry Jurgensen’s planned 500-mile walk from Nebraska City to Chicago this summer.
