Stephen Center Seeks Bottled Water Donations, Brings Hope Through Hydration

Summer is here and temperatures are on the rise, so the Stephen Center (stephencenter.org) is requesting bottled water donations to serve the many experiencing homelessness in the community. Hydration is important for everyone, but even more so for individuals that may spend extended periods of time outdoors, like those experiencing homelessness. The complications that dehydration can bring, like headaches, dizziness, and falls, and even organ failure, could result in hospital visits and unexpected medical bills.

“When someone is in crisis, we want to do all we can to help them gain control of their situation. Staying healthy is part of that plan, but there’s more,” Executive Director Michael Wehling said.

“Just a small gesture—providing a cold bottle of water—can bring a smile to someone’s face, start a conversation, and plant the seeds of hope.”
Donations of bottled water are being accepted at Stephen Center, located at 2723 Q St. in Omaha. Individuals can also purchase water and ship directly to Stephen Center on the organization’s Amazon Smile Wishlist.

Located in South Omaha, Stephen Center serves the homeless, addicted, and those in poverty. The campus includes a homeless emergency shelter, inpatient/outpatient co-occurring treatment, and permanent supportive housing for disabled and low-income individuals. In 2020, Stephen Center provided services to 1,278 men, women, and children and served over 200,000 meals to people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and poverty. Learn more at stephencenter.org.
