Spielbound, Inc. is proud to announce that it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions donated to Spiebound, Inc. are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization on October 22, 2012.
To celebrate this and its successful start, a public indoor ribbon cutting ceremony with the Greater Omaha Chamber was held on February 18th at 3229 Harney Street in Midtown Crossing, where Spielbound’s donated library of over 1,350 board games is located. This is the largest playable and regularly accessible library of its kind in the United States. Spielbound strives to educate, engage and celebrate community through board games. It is a place open to game players of all ages and interests with a variety of special programming to strengthen and grow Omaha’s community.
Spielbound has hosted events raising money for Omaha’s Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, Food Bank for the Heartland, and Doctors without Borders. Its volunteers provide scheduled free game demonstrations every day the library is open. Spielbound supports board game creation and regularly hosts meetings and event for SpielMasons, a local game design and playtesting group.
