Record-High Numbers Being Served at Open Door Mission
The need for services is at a record high on Open Door Mission’s Campus in response to the colder temperatures that have arrived. The Lydia House already has over 40 women and children sleeping on overflow floor mats.
For those living in the streets, abandoned buildings, in their cars or under bridges, winter weather can be deadly. Open Door Mission’s team is busy educating the homeless that uncovered skin could be quickly damaged due to high winds and dangerously low temperatures. Hats, gloves, and mittens are being handed out to those leaving Campus.
There is a need for certain items to accommodate the increase in homeless individuals at the Open Door Mission in an effort to keep them safe and warm. New or gently used blankets, pillows, and towels, as well as toilet paper are being accepted at one of Open Door Mission’s three locations:
Timberlake Outreach Center (2107 East Locust Street)
