Outlook Nebraska, Inc. honored Johnny Botsford and Janis Compton during the “Vision Beyond Sight” banquet on Nov. 7 at the Embassy Suites Omaha-La Vista Hotel & Conference Center. The event celebrated the capabilities and accomplishments of ONI’s blind and visually impaired Associates.
Botsford, of Bellevue, was recognized as ONI’s 2014 Blind Associate of the Year. Joining the ONI team in 2012, Botsford is one of ONI’s 7.1 Mile Rewinder operators on the first shift. He also was recently selected for ONI’s first-ever leadership program designed for the development of entry-level leadership skills among associates who are blind. Each year, ONI chooses a direct labor Associate of the Year that is honored at National Industries for the Blind’s annual conference. Botsford was ONI’s nomination for 2014.
Compton, of Ralston, was named ONI’s 2014 Associate of the Year. Compton, who also is visually impaired, has been with ONI since 2010. She is the company’s administrative associate and is essential to many daily activities at ONI. She is very involved in Omaha’s blind and visually impaired community as a member of the American Council of the Blind and the chairperson of the Share a Fare, Inc. Board of Directors.
Established in 2000, ONI provides employment and workplace training, as well as other opportunities, to the blind and visually impaired. For more information about Outlook Nebraska, Inc., visit outlooknebraska.org.
