On Martin Luther King Day, January 20th, over 150 volunteers spent their holiday making a difference right here in the Heartland.  Volunteers worked at the Open Door Mission Campus all day long providing assistance with sorting and counting toys, sorting clothing and other household items, serving low income families and individuals at the Timberlake Outreach Center, and deep cleaning at the Lydia House.  For over 60 years, Open Door Mission has provided services to hungry and homeless men, women, and children each day with the help of caring individuals in the Heartland.

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that provides 816 men, women, and children with safe shelter beds, serves more than 2,000 hot nutritious meals, and provides preventive measures to more than 275 families living in poverty. Open Door Mission offers life-changing programs for those recovering from life-altering addictions and abuse to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.  For more information about Open Door Mission, please call (402) 422-1111 or visit opendoormission.org.
