Open Door Mission Partners with SummitMedia for Virtual Food Drive

Open Door Mission’s (www.opendoormission.org) Summer of Hope includes a virtual food drive with SummitMedia, which kicked off on June 3. Through August 30, Open Door Mission is asking that people help out by buying food items on their WishList and online registries through Amazon, Target, and Wal-Mart. The most needed foods are canned meat, peanut butter, canned fruit, pasta, cereal, and boxed meals. The whole drive is online, so you can help out with just a few clicks from the comfort of your couch.

“We have seen an increase in people needing our food and services and that has gone up since school is out,” says Candace Gregory, president/CEO of Open Door Mission. “We know how busy the summer is for people, so we are excited about our Hunger Heroes Virtual Food Drive because it literally just takes a few minutes for people to buy food online but it will make a big impact for our neediest neighbors.”

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Every day, Open Door Mission’s campus offers 917 shelter beds to homeless men, women, and children. They also serve over 3,500 meals to people in need daily. They attempt to break the cycle of poverty by providing preventative assistance to more than 1,000 people living in poverty.
