Open Door Mission Announces Confirmed Restaurants for Ladle of Love Event

On April 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Open Door Mission (www.opendoormission.org) invites you to taste delicious soups, breads, and desserts prepared by area chefs at their 7th annual Ladle of Love. The event will be held at Open Door Mission’s Garland Thompson Men’s Center (2705 N 20th St. East). Confirmed restaurants include: Mangia Italiano, Embassy Suites Nines Restaurant, Hilton’s Liberty Tavern, Patricia Catering, Pitch, and Della Costa. Attendees will have the opportunity to cast their votes for the “Best Soup of the Day,” which will be tallied up for the gold, silver, and bronze Ladle of Love awards!

The family-friendly event will feature live music by Prairie Gators Band, dancing, a silent auction, a bounce house, and a clown making balloon animals. The event will also display artwork created by guests who have found safe shelter at Open Door Mission.

Adults are $15 and children ages 6–12 are $7 if you buy your tickets in advance. Proceeds from the event help meet basic needs and provide life-changing programs for the hungry and homeless at Open Door Mission. Each day, Open Door Mission’s campus offers 917 safe shelter beds to homeless men, women and children, serves over 3,500 nutritious meals and provides preventative measures to more than 1,000 people living in poverty.
