The greater Omaha area is poised to welcome a new high school where students can thrive academically and spiritually in a faith-based environment. Omaha Christian High School (OCHS) (omahachristianhighschool.org) aims to meet a growing need for a non-denominational Christian high school dedicated to faith immersion and academic excellence.
OCHS is the result of a collaborative effort between Omaha Christian Academy (OCA) and Lifegate Christian School (LCS). The school aspires to be more than a place of learning; it seeks to integrate faith and knowledge to equip students for lives of purpose and impact.
A major milestone has already been achieved: thanks to a generous donor, OCHS has acquired a building and 19 acres of adjacent land near I-680 and Maple Street. Renovations, managed by Lueder Construction, are currently underway, classes begin September 2, 2025.
The estimated budget for acquiring the property, completing renovations, furnishing the school, and operating for the 2025-2026 academic year is just over $16 million.
OCHS purchased the former Emerald Pointe office building at 2707 North 108th Street. Once renovated under the architectural guidance of Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture, the facility will feature state-of-the-art amenities.
Future campus plans include a sports complex for football, track, soccer, softball, and baseball. A second building will house a gymnasium and additional classrooms, ensuring the campus can accommodate up to 600 students while fostering growth and community engagement.
The educational approach at OCHS is holistic, addressing the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social aspects of student development. All core subjects promote a biblical worldview while aligning with Nebraska State educational standards.
“We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm and support we have received so far,” said Christi Krehbiel, Head of School at OCHS. “This project represents a unique opportunity in Omaha. More and more parents are seeking a non-denominational, faith-based educational option that partners with them in raising their children. We don’t want to wait any longer to provide it.”
OCHS needs to raise an additional $4 million to meet its goal. “We have enough funds to renovate, equip, and staff the school ahead of opening in September 2025. Over the next nine months, we will work tirelessly to secure the remaining balance,” Krehbiel stated. To encourage donor engagement, OCHS has developed a variety of naming opportunities with guidance from Strawhecker Nonprofit Services, the school’s fundraising development counsel.
Additionally, OCHS is partnering with 316 Strategy Group to develop branding, website and social media strategies, ensuring that the school’s message reaches a broad audience and inspires community support.
As the school prepares to open, the leadership team invites the community to be part of this exciting journey.
