National Organization Partners With Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation

Valley Economic Development Center has agreed to start a partnership with the Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (www.midlandslatinocdc.org), to become a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). VEDC is mentoring, assisting and providing capital for MLCDC’s micro-lending program.

Founded in 1976, Valley Economic Development Center (VEDC) has earned a reputation for helping small businesses unable to qualify with traditional bank financing funders across the United States.  Offering individualized service and reasonable costs, VEDC has loaned more than $360 million to more than 100,000 small businesses and created more than 27,000 jobs. Through VEDC’s Business Opportunity Funds program, loans are available for small business owners in states such as: California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Utah, and now Nebraska.

During its first ten years of operation, MLCDC has helped improve the financial situation of the Latino community through micro lending, educational programs, coaching services, business development, technical assistance, child care development programs, networking programs, financial education, and computer skills.
