The 2018 Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation’s (MLCDC; www.midlandslatinocdc.org) Expo Conference and Job Fair has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 17 – Thursday, October 18. The event will kick off in Livestock Exchange Ballroom on Wednesday from 6 – 9 p.m. and then resume on Thursday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This conference has become the business platform for Latinos and non-Latinos to share and exchange information to foster economic development for Omaha and the surrounding communities. The business exposition and job fair on Thursday is open to the public. The keynote speaker will be Carmen Herrera, executive director of El Pajaro Community Development Corporation in Watsonville, CA. Carmen will share with attendees how El Pajaro CDC has supported for 40 years underserved and immigrant communities from rural and urban areas to create wealth, jobs, and assets through entrepreneurship.

Founded on July 14, 2006, MLCDC provides low income communities with opportunities to generate economic growth by providing financing products, development services, and community development, which advance their ability to develop a sustainable future in the Midlands. Approximately 92% of the 2,137 clients served by MLCDC were low income in 2017.
