MLCDC Receives $125,000 Technical Assistance Grant

Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation (MLCDC; www.midlandslatinocdc.org) recently received a $125,000 award from the Department of Treasury. The local organization will use this Technical Assistance Grant to strengthen its micro lending program.

Midlands Latino Community Development Corporation provides financial products, such as microenterprise loans, educational and coaching services, business development services, and technical assistance, to Latinos in the Greater Omaha region.  The counties that MLCDC serves or will soon serve in Nebraska are: Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington. In Iowa, MLCDC will serve Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie counties. The population of Latinos in the greater Omaha area is 84,201 according the Census of 2010.

MLCDC will use the Technical Assistance Award for FY 2015 to strengthen the capacity of its board and staff to manage a larger micro lending program, to increase resources used to capitalize the loan fund, and to upgrade its policies. MLCDC is planning to become a certified Community Development Financial Institution by the CDFI Fund in September 2017.

MLCDC has a 10 year history of providing Latinos with opportunities for economic growth and sustainable future.
