Reliable childcare is one of the biggest barriers facing families experiencing homelessness. Since opening in July 2024, the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center at MICAH House (themicahhouse.org) has provided trauma-informed care to 27 children from MICAH House and 52 from the broader community—giving parents the stability they need to secure jobs, housing and a fresh start.
With six classrooms, an indoor gym and outdoor play areas, the 12,000-square-foot center offers a safe, nurturing environment for children ages six months to six years. In its first year alone, seven families transitioned into permanent housing thanks in part to this vital resource.
As they enter their second year, they need your support to keep this critical work going. Your donation helps provide consistent care, educational supplies and everyday essentials that empower families to thrive. Join them in breaking the cycle, because every child deserves a strong, quality early education no matter their circumstances.
