MICAH House (themicahhouse.org) is proud to celebrate the second anniversary of the Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center this July. The 12,000-square-foot center serves children ages six weeks to six years and offers a Montessori-inspired curriculum that promotes hands-on learning while supporting healthy emotional and cognitive development.

“To see how we’ve grown over the last two years is truly incredible,” said Childcare Center Director, Jess McGee. “It’s so rewarding to watch the vision we had during the planning stages come to life – and to see it thriving two years later!”

The Florence M. Lakin Child Development Center has become an important part of MICAH House programming. Enrollment is open to both families staying in the shelter and families in the broader community. By serving community families as well, the center helps provide a preventative approach for working families with stable housing, reducing the likelihood that they will need our shelter services in the future.
