Walk With 4,000 People to Help Find a Cure for T1D

This year’s JDRF One Walk (walk.jdrf.org/Omaha) is set for Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Lewis and Clark Landing and has a single goal: creating a world without type 1 diabetes (T1D). Join JDRF this year in walking and raising money for life-changing research for the millions affected by this devastating disease.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump, and carefully monitor your eating and activity every single day.

There is nothing you can do to prevent T1D. And—currently—there is no cure. But there is something you can do to help.

When you join the 4,000 Walk participants at the JDRF One Walk, the money you raise will support JDRF—the leading global organization funding T1D research. And, you’ll have a great time doing it! That’s because you’ll walk with a committed community that is passionate about doing whatever it takes to help JDRF turn Type One into Type None.
