JDRF One Voice – Making a Difference on Capitol Hill

On Saturday, March 12 – Tuesday, March 15, 2016 the JDRF Heartland Chapter (jdrf.org), Omaha-Council Bluffs sent three Advocacy volunteers to the annual gathering of more than 170 grassroots JDRF Advocates in Washington, D.C., for three days of information-sharing, education and celebration. These volunteers met with their Members of Congress and their staff to share their stories of living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

These Advocates’ two main focuses were thanking Congressional members for their two-year renewal last year of the Special Diabetes Program (SDP), which gives $150 million towards T1D research and asking for co-sponsorship of the “Medicare CGM Access Act of 2015,” which will ensure people over 65, and who are Medicare-eligible, to have access to life-saving continuous glucose monitors (CGMs).

Join in these efforts and become a JDRF Advocate by texting “ACT” to 53731 (or JDRF1) or sign up online at JDRF.org and click “Take Action.”
