Heartland Family Service’s 12th Annual “Strike A Chord” Event Set for June 17th

Hit the road with Heartland Family Service (www.HeartlandFamilyService.org) and help children and families in southwest Iowa by attending the 12th annual “Strike A Chord” event on June 17 at the Mid-America Center.

A retro Road Trip USA theme will add some twists to this year’s casual-attire event, which also include the presentation of the Salute Awards. This year, Heartland Family Service will honor Michelle Kaczmarek, a wife and mother of four from its Ways to Work program, with an Achievement Award and southwest Iowa community stalwart Verne Welch with a Leadership Award. The evening’s program also will include road trip-inspired games and featured musical act VeeJay DJ Rob, as well as cocktails, dinner and silent and live auctions. Hot-ticket items include a culinary road trip down Route 66 and a dream vacation to Costa Rica.

All proceeds will benefit Heartland Family Service programs in southwest Iowa, including support services for the homeless; transitional and permanent supportive housing; a K-12 therapeutic school; integrated health home; mental health counseling; inpatient and outpatient treatment for substance abuse; and problem gambling education and treatment. Heartland Family Service operates from eight separate locations throughout southwest Iowa, with offices in Council Bluffs, Logan and Glenwood.
