The Gretna Community Foundation (gretnacommunityfoundation.org) has given more than $17,000 across seven different organizations in its 2024 Community Grant Cycle. Members of the GCF Board presented grant winners with their awarded funds at a ceremony held at the Gretna Crossing YMCA last month. The Co-Chair of the organization’s Grant Committee, Susan Koesters, noted that GCF has awarded nearly $80,000 in community grants since 2016, and the 2024 Grant Cycle is the largest annual amount given to date.

The following organizations received funding as 2024 Community Grant Cycle grantees:

  • American Legion Auxiliary to fund the delivery and installation of a Memorial Bench
  • Dreamweaver Foundation to fund 24 professional musical performances at two Gretna senior communities for their Merrymakers programming
  • Friends of the Gretna Public Library for teen and adult summer programming
  • Greater Omaha Youth for Christ to support volunteer training and activities at all Gretna Middle and High Schools
  • Gretna Neighbors Food Pantry for meat and other specialty resources
  • HETRA (Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy) to fund Life Skills sessions for Gretna residents
  • YMCA of Greater Omaha to fund fishing education program for summer camp participants

Recipients of a GCF Community Grant must provide services within the community of Gretna and/or the Gretna School District and must qualify as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit federally tax-exempt organization.

The Gretna Community Foundation is an affiliated fund of Midlands Community Foundation. Its mission is to help fund community improvement projects and help those in need in the Gretna community.
