Firefly (firefly.kids) proudly announces its new “Spark and Bloom” community garden at the Charles E. Lakin Collaboration Center. Funded by a GroMoreGood Garden Grant from The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and the National Head Start Association, the garden will engage children in Firefly’s Early Head Start Program and Maternal Health Support Group in planting vegetables and flowers. The initiative promotes garden education, fresh food access, and hands-on learning. Once completed, the garden will serve as a space for continued education and provide fresh produce to Firefly families. Any excess harvest will be donated to Together’s food pantry. “This garden is a shining example of what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Kimberly Kolakowski, Executive Director of Firefly. Christine Gochenour, Director of Development, added, “We’re thrilled to start this in our new space with great partners.” Firefly is collaborating with nonprofits and businesses to bring this vibrant garden to life.
