The Nebraska Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation hosted the Links to a Cure Dinner Gala & Golf Benefit on July 24th at the Hilton in Downtown Omaha, and July 25th at Quarry Oaks Golf Course. In total, $187,268 was raised in the fight against the disease.

The dinner gala featured a social hour paired with silent and super silent auctions complete with over 150 unique packages. The evening was hosted by the Links to a Cure Committee chaired by Jeff Jorth and Aaron Bryant. With an exciting Live Auction and Bid for a Cure, raising funds for cystic fibrosis research was the focus of the evening. Matt Schick of ESPNU served as the emcee for the banquet and NHL veteran and Omaha native Jed Ortmeyer discussed overcoming his own personal health challenges.

The following day, golfers convened at Quarry Oaks Golf Course for blue skies and green fairways. Participants enjoyed an exceptional golf experience complete with celebrity playing partners and impressive Nike Player’s packages. The tournament featured food, beverages and a lively atmosphere provided by Bonefish Grill, Tailgating Envy and MillerCoors.

Funds raised through Links to a Cure have helped spur dramatic progress in the lives of those who have cystic fibrosis. Fifty years ago, most children with CF did not live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, people with CF are living into their 30s, 40s and beyond.
