The BLUEBARN Theatre opened its new building at 1106 South 10th Street to the public for the first time on September 10th. The evening began with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30pm, and was followed by an open house until 7:30pm. Community members took the opportunity to tour the theater and the adjacent green space throughout the event, with BLUEBARN Board, staff members and volunteers on hand to answer questions.

The BLUEBARN Theatre was designed by Jeff Day and the architectural firm Min|Day, alongside Susan Clement-Toberer, BLUEBARN Producing Artistic Director, and Joshua Dachs of the New York-based theatre design firm Fisher Dachs Associates. The 13,000 square foot building has a convertible indoor/outdoor design unlike any other theater in the country, allowing for innovative stage designs and new audience perspectives.

Art installations by local and regional artists are visible throughout the building, along with reclaimed materials that provide the warmth and unique environment that BLUEBARN patrons know and love. The 96-seat house maintains the intimacy of the BLUEBARN experience, while high ceilings, an overhead grid, and state of the art lighting and sound equipment open the doors to the unexpected, inside and out.

The BLUEBARN’s 2015-2016 Season opened on September 24th with The Grown-Up by Jordan Harrison. For more information, please contact the BLUEBARN Theatre at (402) 345-1576 or visit www.bluebarn.org.
