American Heart Association to Host Omaha Go Red For Women September 24

The American Heart Association (www.heart.org/OmahaGoRed) will raise awareness and funds for cardiovascular disease and stroke on Tuesday, September 24 during their Omaha Go Red For Women event, which will be held at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in La Vista. The event, chaired by Ellen Wright, will begin at 4:30 p.m. with an electronic silent auction, health fair, and educational hot topic sessions. The night will continue with a plated dinner, a live auction, a survivor runway show, and an inspiring survivor story. Omaha Go Red For Women is locally sponsored by Methodist Health System, along with media sponsors 3 News Now and Star 104.5. Proceeds benefit the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association.

One in three women’s deaths are caused by cardiovascular disease or stroke each year. In the past five years, the American Heart Association has funded over $4.1 million in Nebraska on 28 studies. However, last year the American Heart Association had to turn down 15 meritorious studies in Nebraska alone because they lacked the $2.5 million needed to fund them.

The Go Red For Women Expo is a part of the American Heart Association’s national movement, sponsored by CVS Health, to end heart disease and stroke in women. Individual tickets and tables are available now at www.heart.org/OmahaGoRed. Event sponsorship opportunities are also available. Call (402) 810-6870 with any questions.
