The holiday season can put a financial strain on many struggling families in the Omaha metro. You can help by “adopting” a family in need with Heartland Hope Mission (heartlandhopemission.org). By adopting a family, you will help to provide children with new toys for Christmas. With the current inflation, Heartland’s pantry numbers have increased by 45% since last year. This year, they are anticipating serving 4,000 children. Another way you can help is through monetary donations. To sign up to adopt a family or give a donation, go to heartlandhopemission.org.

Heartland Hope Mission also has several volunteer shifts available during the holidays. Volunteers can help distribute toys during their Hope-Filled Christmas event during the third week of December. If you are interested in volunteering, email eddimar@heartlandhopemission.org.

Heartland Hope Mission operates one of the largest food pantries in the state, but they are “More Than a Pantry” by helping families work toward self-sufficiency. They primarily serve working poor families and those facing a crisis by providing a week’s supply of food, as well as clothing, diapers, job resources, and community referrals. Like and follow Heartland Hope Mission on Facebook or follow them on LinkedIn and Instagram to stay up to date on all the important work they are doing in the community.
