Northwestern Mutual Donates $50K to Local Childhood Cancer Organizations

Northwestern Mutual (foundation.northwesternmutual.com) – Nebraska has been recognized as a 2020 Childhood Cancer Impact Award winner, receiving a $50,000 grant. As part of this award, University of Nebraska Foundation received a $20,000 grant, and Sammy’s Superheroes Foundation, Lolo’s Angels and Camp CoHoLo each received a $10,000 grant. Throughout the year, the office also raised over $40,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, for which they received an additional $4,000. The team selected the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Nebraska Chapter as the recipient for this funding.

Each of these organizations serves those affected by childhood cancer through efforts to raise awareness, provide emotional support, fund life-saving research and more. To support these nonprofits in their efforts, the team at Northwestern Mutual – Nebraska has hosted over 100 events, dedicated more than 7,500 community service hours and fundraised almost $500,000 for the cause.

More than $2 million in grants has been donated to childhood cancer-related organizations through Northwestern Mutual’s Childhood Cancer Impact Awards since its inception. In addition to the company’s ongoing financial support and volunteerism throughout the year, it has donated more than $345,000 in grants on behalf of the 2020 award recipients.

Launched in 2012, Northwestern Mutual‘s Childhood Cancer Program was developed to find cures, provide family and patient support, and aid those who continue to struggle with long-term effects of cancer treatment.
