Nebraska Community Blood Bank Seeks Holiday Heroes

Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) (NCBB.org) is asking local businesses, organizations, places of worship, and community clubs to step up to be Holiday Heroes and provide hope for patients in need.

Holiday Heroes are needed to host blood drives with NCBB during the week of Christmas and New Year’s, specifically Sunday, December 23 – Sunday, January 13. These holiday weeks are especially challenging to maintain a stable blood supply for area hospitals. A child battling cancer, a neighbor involved in a serious accident —these patients may all require life-saving blood.

“My son Austin was three-years-old when he was diagnosed with cancer. Great doctors and blood donated by the community helped him live,” said Austin’s mother Andrea Gerres. Andrea recognizes the everyday need for blood donors and now hosts blood drives every other month at her home.

“NCBB makes it so easy! They work with you every step of the way to make your drive a success. I recruit my friends and family to donate blood by reminding them it only takes one hour and it helps save lives like Austin’s.”

Nebraska Community Blood Bank has been connecting people and saving lives for 50 years. NCBB relies on the local community to donate blood to help ensure a safe and stable blood supply is available to area hospitals and other partners. Consider starting a new holiday tradition of saving lives. To learn more, contact Kari Lundeen at (402) 486-9427 / klundeen@ncbb.org. For more information, call 1-877-486-9414 or visit NCBB.org.
