Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Hosts Program on Blood Disorder Treatments

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.eiseverywhere.com/382152) invites patients and caregivers of those with certain blood cancers and conditions to attend a free educational program on February 9 at the Hilton Omaha’s St. Nicholas Room, 1001 Cass St., from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The free program is part of a regional American Society of Hematology conference sponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center for the last 12 years. National support is provided by Novartis, a global pharmaceuticals company.

Participants will hear updates on new treatments and management of acute and chronic leukemia, thrombosis/hemostasis, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloproliferative disorders. They also will hear about support resources available locally through LLS.

The slate of speakers include nationally recognized oncologists from some of the leading cancer centers in the U.S. One of the speakers is Matthew Lunning, D.O., associate professor at UNMC and a lymphoma physician at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. UNMC oncologists are known for their expertise in treating leukemias and lymphomas. The cancer team has led and participated in research that has resulted in better cancer treatments and improved patient care around the world.

Though the workshop is free, pre-registration is required. Please RSVP by February 1. To register, go online to www.eiseverywhere.com/382152. For more information or for assistance for people with disabilities, contact Josh Bollam at (914) 821-8409 or josh.bollam@lls.org.
