The National Civics Bee (civics.uschamberfoundation.org/ncbhow-it-works) is an annual program that empowers middle school students (grades 6-8) to explore civics, engage in their communities, and develop leadership skills through a nonpartisan, multi-round competition. The essay application portal opened on Sept. 8, 2025, at 6:01 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time (HST) and closes on Feb. 3, at 11:59 p.m. HST. Regional, state, and national events will follow throughout the program year.

Sponsors of the National Civics Bee play a vital role in supporting civic education and helping students gain leadership skills, critical thinking, and community engagement experience. Contributions from sponsors provide resources for students to participate in essay competitions, regional and state events, and the National Championship in Washington, D.C., where finalists compete for cash prizes, national recognition, and a $100,000 529 education saving plan contribution.
