The Quasar Drive-In Theater will open its 2026 season as one of the few newly built drive-in theaters in the world, continuing the revival of a classic American moviegoing experience. Opening this season, for the first time ever, it has two screens running new releases every weekend.
Originally started on open farmland in 2020, the project marks its 6-year construction anniversary this week. Through years of handson work and community support, Quasar Drive-In has grown into a modern Twin Theater, offering First-run double features, familyfriendly entertainment, and a gathering place that blends nostalgia with new memories.
In 1957, there were more than 5,000 drive-in theaters across the United States. Today, fewer than 290 remain worldwide. Quasar Drive-In is family owned, operated and built from the ground up, all rarities in modern cinema exhibition.
The theater hosts weekend double-feature movies, swap meets, free community movie events, and fundraisers supporting local organizations. Its mission is simple: provide clean, affordable entertainment where families and friends can spend time together outdoors.
“We built Quasar to create something lasting for the community,” said owner Jeff Karls. “Drive-ins are part of American culture, and we wanted to make sure that this experience continues for future generations.” More information is available at quasardrivein.com.
