Located in Council Bluffs on the Iowa Western Community College campus, The Port is a new workspace for aspiring entrepreneurs and innovative students which also provides support and business development resources to seasoned and new start-ups. Directly connected with the Computer Information Technology and Graphic Communication programs at IWCC, student interns are now available to assist local businesses while gaining important hands-on experience. Depending on business needs, the staff at The Port can assist with connecting rising entrepreneurs and current business owners to student assistance, generally at no cost to the entrepreneur or business.
Jill Willard, a liaison located onsite at The Port, is focused on connecting businesses with knowledgeable students to serve as interns in the field of information technology. Possible areas of interest include but are not limited to web development, network administration, managing help desk functions, and general IT services or areas of graphic communication such as logo designs and generating marketing material.
Through programs such as The Port’s Startup Grind, IWCC is also dedicated to educating, inspiring and making connections in our community for the next generation of entrepreneurs and information technology professionals. For more information about obtaining an intern through The Port, or if you are an entrepreneur interested in viewing the space, please email Jill Willard at jwillard@iwcc.edu or visit www.BeITWise.com.
