Back in 1913, the Stam family opened a store in Holland serving the finest chocolate found throughout the Netherlands. Today, that same family is operating the same company on both sides of the pond with family-owned stores in Des Moines and Middleton, Wisconsin along with supporting their franchises in four other states, totaling nine stores throughout the Midwest – including one of them right here in Nebraska. All of the family’s famous chocolate bonbons distributed in the United States are prepared by Dutch Master Chocolatier, Erik Stam, at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Des Moines. The family-perfected, rich chocolate originates from Belgium, and is the same top-secret, original family recipe created by its founder in 1913.
Decades later in 2009, Suzi and Chad Bonnet opened Chocolaterie Stam in Papillion, Nebraska. Now a staple in our community, Chocolaterie Stam brings the rich tradition of European chocolate to Papillion every day and serves as host to book clubs, women’s groups and many other community organizations. This year, the entire Stam family as well as their extended family are celebrating 100 years in business with a series of events both in the communities they serve as well as in each of their stores. Customers can follow them on Facebook as well as place orders online at www.stamchocolate.com
