Millard Business Association Announces 2018 Scholarship and Business Awards
The Millard Business Association (millardbusinessassociation.org) announced the 2018 scholarship awards and business awards at the Annual Awards Celebration on Thursday, February 28, at Champions Run. The theme of the event was The Emerald City in Millard. Business award recognition at this year’s event included: Entrepreneur of the Year – Darla Bengtson with Nebraska Realty; Citizen of the Year – Roxy Starkey with Books by Roxy; Professional of the Year – David Swearingen with U.S. Bank; Small Business of the Year – Auto Body Concepts Collision Center; Large Business of the Year – Southwest YMCA; Ambassador of the Year – Chris Standeven; and Hall of Fame Inductees included Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson, Rich Pahls, and Mayor Jean Stothert.
The evening ended with some fun awards to go along with the Award Celebration theme tagline: We have heart…we have courage… we have brains… and tonight we celebrate those in our community. The Heart Award went to Kenny Engelmeyer for his passion in the Millard community; Courage Award was given to Toby Asplin for the risks he takes to build a new business; and Connie Rivera received the Brains Award for the connections she makes in the Millard area.
