Alzheimer’s is an incurable disease that reportedly afflicts nearly half of seniors older than 85 and affects not only the seniors but their family caregivers. Now there is help.
Home Instead’s Alzheimer’s Disease or Other Dementias CARE: Changing Aging Through Research and Education® Training Program helps to remove some of the dread associated with these diseases by offering family caregivers the support they so badly need.
Through five, 15-minute interactive classes, family members learn how to immerse themselves in the mindsets of their loved ones to help manage behavioral symptoms frequently associated with the disease, such as belligerence and anger.
The dementia curriculum, CARE – Changing Aging through Research and Education has been reviewed by the Alzheimer’s Association® and meets the Alzheimer’s Association’s Dementia Care Practice Recommendations in the following topics:
– Alzheimer’s and Dementia Disease Awareness,
– Strategies for Caring for the Person with Dementia,
– Communication and Understanding Behavior,
– Social Needs and Activities, and
– Eating Well.
