City Sprouts (omahasprouts.org), Omaha’s first community garden, is proud to announce its 30th anniversary celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 28, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at 4002 Seward St., Omaha, NE 68131.
This special event honors three decades of dedication to food justice, sustainability and community growth. Since its founding, City Sprouts has transformed vacant lots into vibrant gardens and provided education, nourishment and opportunity to countless individuals and families across Omaha.
City Sprouts is more than just a garden. With a 6.8-acre urban farm that donates nearly 16,000 pounds of produce annually to local food banks, a 24/7 community food pantry, monthly educational workshops, community gatherings and mobile education programs, City Sprouts continues to lead with innovation and heart.
Thanks to a recent Greener Together Grant from OPPD, the organization has also expanded its garden footprint to better serve the community and strengthen local food systems.
