Frios Gourmet Pops Omaha (friosomaha.com) is celebrating its first anniversary this May, marking a successful year of bringing hand-poured, gourmet ice cream and fruit pops to the community. Locally owned by Omaha native Chris Alford, his wife Liz and their three kids, the family business has quickly earned a loyal following with its “Happiness on a Stick” delivered in their tie-dyed “Sweet Ride” van.
Chris, raised in Omaha in an entrepreneurial family with multiple generations of Omaha business owners, always knew he wanted to start a family business. After 10 years in Asia launching coffee companies, Chris and Liz returned to Nebraska—Chris now focuses on senior care and Liz teaches ballet and hip-hop at Creighton University. When they discovered Frios, its mobile dessert model perfectly fit their busy family, offering a flexible, fun and community-driven business.
The Alford family is excited to continue growing their business and giving back to the community. “Our pops bring ‘Happiness on a Stick,’ and it’s amazing to see so many repeat customers,” said Liz Alford. “We’re grateful for the community’s support and it’s been incredible seeing our kids take ownership in the business, learning valuable life skills.”
“It’s been an incredible journey, and we’re excited to celebrate our first-year milestone,” added Chris Alford. “It’s a chance to reflect on all the trial and error and to look forward to what’s ahead.” Frios Pops Omaha is entirely mobile and offers a variety of allergy-friendly options, perfect for any event.
