After a year of planning and construction, Metropolitan Community College (visit mccneb.edu) Construction and Building Science students will see the 1,259-square-foot Craftsman bungalow they built moved to its permanent site at 2452 Camden Ave. in Miller Park on Thursday, August 14 at 9 a.m.

Designed by MCC Architecture Design Technology students for a narrow lot, the home was built in four modules and features a functional pantry, custom-built cabinets, an eat-in kitchen, mixed-use space, two bedrooms and a laundry room.

Holy Name Housing Corp. financed the materials through its affordable workforce housing initiative. More than 170 MCC students — representing plumbing, architecture, electrical and construction programs — contributed to the project. This is the second home MCC students have built with HNHC and the sixth MCC-completed Capstone home overall.

Metropolitan Community College, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, is a comprehensive, public community college that offers affordable, quality education to all residents of Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington counties.
