Business Ethics Alliance Launching New Governing Board Ethics Education

The Business Ethics Alliance (businessethicsalliance.org) announces a new ethics education product: Governing Board Ethics. The series is like an ethics toolkit for boards. Purchased individually or as a package, each micro-learning module highlights a common challenge to board cohesion and the ethical implications of such challenges. Complex ethical concepts are simplified so that the modules can be administered by anyone on the board. Streamlined explanations and examples inspire conversations as brief as 15 minutes, giving boards the flexibility to embed important discussions into regular meetings.

“This new program was born out of a recognition that governing boards of both for-profit and non-profit organizations are often overlooked when it comes to education about ethical responsibilities,” says Dr. Beverly Kracher, executive director and CEO of the Business Ethics Alliance. “Legal rulings, new standards for board accountability, media coverage of board failures—all of these indicate the need for ethics training in governing boards.”

Boards can begin the program with an online assessment of members’ shared values, beliefs, and perceptions of board culture. Equipped with that knowledge, they can purchase the entire series at a discounted rate or choose from a menu of topics: Conflict of Interest, Accountability, Groupthink, Interpersonal Communication, Confidentiality, and Executive Compensation.

Ethical culture doesn’t stop at compliance. Codes of conduct and other policy documents can only go so far. Learn more about the new Governing Board Ethics series and other products at businessethicsalliance.org/products.
