Brookestone Meadows Resident Honored by Nebraska Nursing Facility Association

Brookestone Meadows (brookestonemeadows.com) resident and published author, Carolyn Howell, was presented with the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association (NNFA) Resident of the Year Award on April 25 at the 2018 Spring Awards Luncheon in Kearney. This award program is organized by the Nebraska Healthcare Association and provides opportunities throughout the year to honor facility employees, residents, and volunteers. She was selected for this recognition from a group of incredible nominees statewide.

Carolyn has been an active resident of Brookestone Meadows for 10 years. During that time, she has participated in many activities and made significant contributions, including serving as resident council president for 6 years, spearheading the construction and ongoing maintenance of the raised garden beds, and developing and initiating the Older Worker in the Lord’s Service (O.W.L.S.) program which helps residents stay connected to the community. Carolyn also organized a project that had residents create thank you gifts for local law enforcement, which earned Brookstone Meadows a Rising Star Award.

She continues to inspire those around her to help others daily. Carolyn has also published a book titled Redhead at the Front Desk, and she is currently working on a children’s book that she plans to name Oh Sister…Come See the Choo-Choo Train.

Brookestone Meadows nominated Carolyn for this award as she exemplifies their mission of promoting relationships of trust, confidence, and loyalty through the quality of their services, the integrity of their people, and their involvement in the community. Congratulations, Carolyn, on this well-deserved honor!
