ANB Employee Selected for Obama Foundation’s MBK Alliance Conference

Recently, American National Bank’s (ANB) (www.american.bank) Ames Branch Lead Teller Elijah Mitchell experienced a life-changing moment while attending the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Alliance Conference. Elijah, who began his banking career through the Empowerment Network’s Step-Up Intern Program, was selected to participate in the MBK conference in Oakland, CA in February. While attending the conference, Elijah met with other youth who were impacting their communities in positive ways.

One of the most memorable experiences was when Elijah had the opportunity to meet and speak with former President, Barack Obama. Elijah not only had a moment to shake hands, but he was also able to ask the former President the last question during the conference’s final panel discussion.

Elijah emphasized that he learned many things while at the conference and felt very motivated to be successful in the future. “One of the most important things I learned from this experience would be if there’s not a seat at the table for you, then you make your own-table and you do the things that you want to do and surpass the others.”

American National Bank appreciates Elijah’s commitment to help make a change in the world and they are proud to have him as part of the ANB family. For more information, visit www.american.bank.
