Aksarben Curling Club & Nebraska Brewing Company Release Sliding Stones Scotch Ale

Aksarben Curling Club is pleased to announce Sliding Stones Scotch Ale, a collaboration beer with Nebraska Brewing Company. Sliding Stones Scotch Ale, also known as The Curling Beer, was brewed in celebration of the club’s history and was released on October 18 at Nebraska Brewing Company’s Brewery and Taproom located at 6950 S. 108th Street. Sliding Stones boasts a 6.0% ABV and 22 IBU, which makes this beer enjoyable and robust. In a nod to the history of the Aksarben Curling Club and Curling’s Olympic history, the 6.0% ABV highlights Aksarben Curling Club’s 60 years of operations and the 22 IBU is in honor of the 22 Winter Olympic Games that have been played to date.

Many people are unaware that Nebraska has a Curling background, let alone its long history in the state. Aksarben Curling Club hopes this beer will raise awareness of the Club, and the high caliber curling it has produced. Aksarben Curling Club has sent Nebraskans to Bonspiels (curling tournaments), Nationals, and World competitions. Several of our college teams have competed on the national level, with University Nebraska-Lincoln taking 2nd Place this year at the College Curling National Championships.

While not yet in wide distribution, the beer has garnered great reviews on social media review site UNTAPPD and Food & Wine published an article highlighting the beer release. Aksarben Curling Club also recently helped host “Curling Night in America” at Omaha’s Baxter Arena, which will air on NBC Sports Network through Dec. 23. Other upcoming US Curling events include the US Olympic Team Trials at Baxter Arena (November 11-18) and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea (February 9-25).
