Meet Shane Neuharth, Owner/Operator at Hallmark Homecare (hallmarkhomecare.com/116).
Tell us a little about your business. – Hallmark Homecare is a direct hire referral agency specializing in the recruitment of experienced, screened caregivers with clients on a direct hire basis. Essentially, we are the “matchmaker” between the caregiver and client. Our model provides advantages to both the caregiver and client compared to the traditional homecare model by eliminating the middleman.
How did you get started in the business? – I was approached on LinkedIn asking if I had any interest in Franchise opportunities. After going through the discovery process I felt Hallmark was a great fit giving my past experience in medical/healthcare sales. I knew the need for the aging population was there and wanted to help find a solution to those needing care.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Probably just adapting to the everchanging landscape in Healthcare.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I would say surrounding myself with good people both as colleague’s and mentors.
Tell us a little about your family. – I have four boys. The oldest attends IA State. Then I have an eighth grader along with twins in sixth grade.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – I actually feel Hallmark is the start of the biggest turning point in my life. It’s a great feeling to know you are helping people that truly need a new solution to a problem that isn’t going away.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy all sports, either participating, coaching or watching. Always up for a round of golf and not one to shy away from tailgating before a game.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m not sure how interesting or unique but I was born on Friday the 13th. Still trying to decide if that’s lucky or unlucky. One day that answer will be clear.
Who inspires you? – Honestly different people every day. We encounter individuals, whether strangers or friends, that overcome obstacles daily. My kids overcome obstacles daily. That inspires me.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is.” – Vince Lombardi.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Entertaining.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Beautiful Day” by U2.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Teleportation.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I am an ok cook.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Professional golfer.
