Every year since opening their first location in 2007, Three Dog Bakery & Spaw has hosted their annual “Growl-O-Ween” event in October. Chuckles and Maurice, both Shih Tzu mixes, are the resident pets at Three Dog Bakery & Spaw as well as the furry friends who inspired this event. Both were rescued, with Chuckles being the first who found his new home at Three Dog Bakery & Spaw after being adopted from the Nebraska Humane Society. The event is not only tons of fun for hundreds of pets and their owners, but each year all of the proceeds support the work being done for rescue animals at the Nebraska Humane Society. Growl-O-Ween is held in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing, and features a raffle, food drive, a variety of vendors and local rescue groups, and the most popular, a costume contest! The four categories include Best Small Dog, Best Big Dog, Best Group (which can include humans also!), and the crowd favorite, “Oh NO You Did Not Do That To Your Dog!.” There is never a lack of creativity with the costumes, that’s for sure! After the winners are announced for the costume contest, pets and their owners have the opportunity to “trick or treat” throughout Midtown Crossing and everyone definitely leaves with plenty of goodies.
This year, Growl-O-Ween will be held on October 25th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Make sure to stop out with your four-legged friends for plenty of entertainment while supporting a very worthy cause!
