Who are the owners/important executives?
Shayne Fili CAI-President and CEO
Mark Beacom CAI-Vice President and Operations manager

What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?
We are a full service company. We leverage technology to bring our sellers the highest return on their assets. Unlike many auction companies, we are full time. We conducted 93 auctions in 2011 and are on track for a growth year.

What do you like about doing business in the Omaha area?
Omaha is a great little big town. Everyone knows each other. People have a great work ethic and integrity in Omaha
What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with? – Mark is a member of the board of directors of SkillsUSA Nebraska, and the Secretary/Treasurer for the Nebraska Auctioneer’s Association. Additionally we are involved with many local charities, schools and churches conducting benefit auctions.  Our company is also a member of the Nebraska Restaurant association and Shayne is a member of the board of directors of the Nebraska Auctioneer’s Association, on the Metro Business Women’s Council and a Benefit Auction Specialist and CAGA appraiser.

Do you have a business philosophy or mission statement?
Our mission is to be a progressive general auction company that is market driven and provides excellent customer and client services at a great value. We are “The first choice for auction services.”

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?
Our industry has been completely reinvented through the use of the internet. Proxibid and other auction sites have made auctions a very different sales tool. Our use of technology and the use of live simulcast auctions opens our business up to the world instead of a small region like auctions of 20 years ago. Live simulcast auctions put our clients’ merchandise out to a much larger audience at a much lower cost than ever could have been done without the use of technology.

What do you see happening with the business in the next five years?
The auction industry will continue to adapt and change as technology advances. Social networking sites, online auction formats and the advances in mobile technology will allow auction buyers much more opportunity to buy the items they want.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?
Our company, like everyone else, has been challenged by the current economy. We have changed direction and become stronger. This has indirectly caused us to double our sales over the past 12 months. With that comes many challenges from processes and procedures to employees and everything in between.

What has been your most important achievement as a business?
Our most important achievement has been to gain the market share we have over the past few years. We have become the busiest auction company in the area.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know?
In our business, everything is unique and interesting. That is what makes it so challenging and interesting. People make the business tick. There are collectors, hoarders, business owners, banks, attorneys and anyone else you can think of that need auction services. We have sold everything from Hot Wheels cars to golf course greens and just about anything else you can imagine.
