What do you like about doing business in Omaha?
It’s energizing to do business in a community that’s thriving, growing and providing one of the best qualities of life of any city in the country. Our customers appreciate and embrace the pace of communications and technology advances. Omaha has a strong workforce and as a result, we’re able to employ incredibly talented and committed folks who know how to take care of customers and of
each other.

What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with? We support more than 100 local non-profit organizations that are engaged in services impacting youth, education, technology, diversity and inclusion. Our employees are active volunteers, and we proudly provide eight hours of paid time off per employee that can be spent volunteering for the organizations we support.

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years? Without question, mobility has been a driver for consumers and businesses. As a result, we see that the culmination of our core products (Internet, phone and video) have been incredibly blended with one another. In a relatively short period of time, watching television and surfing the web on a tablet or phone has become commonplace in
our society.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced? The most challenging thing for any company is keeping up with the speed at which technology changes. The possibilities are endless!

What has been your most important achievement as a business? The opportunity to serve other businesses with communications and technology solutions that help them be more competitive, efficient and relevant to their customers is fun and rewarding. Our portfolio includes business customers working from a home office all the way to Fortune 500 companies. This span creates a diverse spectrum of needs and requirements, which we love to accomplish
every day.

What was the biggest turning point in your business?
For our entire industry, it was revolutionary when the “cable company” started to offer phone and Internet services.  Today, we know that the expectation of any communications company is to offer all of these products, because they are so integrated with one another. But sixteen years ago, that was not yet
the case.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know? We are local and our 1,000+ employees work out of our locations at 115th and Dodge, 120th and Stonegate or at one of our solution stores scattered across the Omaha Metro.  When you engage with a Cox employee, you are probably talking someone who lives right down the street from you!
