Tell us a little about your business.

Our core business is automatic doors and glass sales and service; we provide storefront solutions for our clients. We are a Stanley Access Technologies distributor and also offer a number of value-added services. Last year we formed a standalone division that allows us to provide security solutions as well, Secure Card Readers and More or S.C.R.A.M.

How did you get started in the business?

My dad, Jim, was a glazier. While working in the trade he became trained as an automatic door technician. Dad would take me with him on jobs when I was young and I became AAADM certified at 14. I jumped into the business head first at a very young age.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

I would say growing our business and doubling our workforce. It’s been a challenge at times to keep our team focused on the big picture and overall goals of the company, meaning the customer comes first.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

I think it’s still ahead of me, but to date, it’s been striking a balance between my role in the company and the other areas of my life.

Tell us a little about your family.

My wife Deena and I have a child on the way; we are due anytime now! My mom and dad started the family business, and now there are six family members working beside me.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

I do CrossFit, and also enjoy trap shooting, golf and cycling. My wife and I enjoy golfing and traveling together.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I am an open book, so although it’s no big surprise to those who know me, I’m a big Star Wars fan and I have to move at light speed.

What are you the most proud of?

That’s easy! I get to work with my father every day of the week.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t be afraid of the unknown and the risks. Just go for it.

Which talent would you most like to have?

With so much on my plate, I would like to be more organized.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

I am passionate about the work of the Open Door Mission. I feel they help our community in the right way. We host a fun golf event to raise funds in support of their mission to help stop the cycle of poverty and homelessness. This year it will be held on Monday, August 28th at the Oak Hills Country Club. You can find out more details online at www.aunitedglass.com/golf-classic.html.
