The Grounds Guys of Southwest Omaha (www.southwest-omaha.groundsguys.com) provides professional lawn care services in Douglas and Sarpy County, including Omaha, Papillion, Boys Town and Ralston, Nebraska. Locally veteran owned and operated, their team serves everyone from single-family homes to large commercial locations.  Jason Mahlberg is the Operations Manager for The Grounds Guys of Southwest Omaha.

Tell us a little about your business. – We are a full-service grounds care company. Our established systems allow us to deliver industry-leading lawn care and landscape solutions to commercial and residential clients. Built on a family tradition of caring, The Grounds Guys are driven by a passion to exceed the expectations of our customers.

How did you get started in the business?  – I was looking for different path in life, where I could use my team building skills and my drive for customer service.  Luckily I found The Grounds Guys, which has been a great fit.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Balancing family and business.  I try to give both 110 percent, which makes time management hard at times

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Serving 22 years in the Army and National Guard.

Tell us a little about your family. – My wife Heather and I have been married for over 11 years.  We have one daughter, Sophia, who will be 8 years old in May

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Getting married and starting a family.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Camping and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I have completed many parachute jumps in the army, but I am deathly scared of heights.

What are you the most proud of? – My family.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Be the best man you can be and everything else will come easy.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Honest.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – The theme song from The A-Team, because I get the hard to do things done!

If you could have a super power, what would it be? – Time travel, so I could back in time to give everyone quality service

Which talent would you most like to have? – Not to worry about everything, but I think that comes with my attitude on life; I just want everyone to be happy.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Acting, because I am the 007 of the lawn care business…just look at my picture!

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – Camping is a favorite getaway of ours, so my wife and I are campground hosts for the Nebraska State Parks.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Bootlegger’s Boy by Barry Switzer. Sorry Husker fans…BOOMER SOONER!

What is your favorite movie? – Forrest Gump.

What is your favorite TV show? – Finding Bigfoot…I am always LOOKING for him.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Summer Kitchen Café.
