Tangier Shrine, a Masonic-based fraternity and an affiliate of Shriners International, celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the Center (chapter) on August 23.  The event was open to the public, and hors d’oeuvres, beverages and tours of the facility, located at 84th and Center Rd., were available.  Remarks were also given by the International Potentate of Shriners International as well as by leaders of the Tangier Shrine and other local dignitaries.  Tangier Shrine is active in the Omaha community through participation in local and regional events, including parades, sporting events, fundraising initiatives, and other philanthropic activities.

Founded in 1872, Shriners International consists of 192 centers and more than 500,000 members. The fraternity’s primary philanthropic purpose is the support of Shriners Hospitals for Children.  Its 22 facilities located in the United States, Canada, and Mexico are changing lives every day through innovative pediatric specialty care, world-class research, and medical education. Care is provided regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Over Tangier’s existence more than 15,000 children from its local area have been assisted with their medical needs. Tangier members have given countless volunteer hours and more than 20 million dollars over the years to ensure children are cared for with dignity and love.   For more information about Tangier Shrine please call (402) 392-0404 or visit www.tangiershrine.com.
