More than 4,500 walkers representing local corporations, families, schools and other organizations participated in the 2012 JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.  This year’s Walk to Cure Diabetes was held Saturday, August 11th at the Lewis & Clark Landing.  Fundraising efforts will continue through the end of September with the goal of raising over $745,000 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.  CenturyLink was the presenting sponsor for the Walk and Danny Pate, Vice President and General Manager served as this year’s Corporate Chair.

New this year, JDRF hosted over 250 runners at its first annual T1D 5K Dash sponsored by Land o’ Frost.

JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for T1D research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 research.

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. T1D is a disease which strikes children and adults suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump.
