The Midlands Community Foundation Board of Directors has named three new members to its Board.  They are Tom Ackley, representing Bellevue; Barb Slattery, representing southern Cass County; and Jim Thompson, representing LaVista.

Tom Ackley is a shareholder with the law firm Koley Jessen P.C., L.L.O.   Ackley’s primary areas of practice are in banking and finance, real estate and corporate law.

Barb Slattery was born and raised in Ralston, Neb., and is currently a 35-year resident of Cass County, living near Weeping Water.  She and her husband are the owners of Slattery Vintage Estates: Vineyard and Tasting Room, a venue for events and wine tasting near their family vineyard of three acres.

Jim Thompson is the Sarpy County Commissioner for District 2.  Commissioner Thompson serves on the Merit Commission, Visitor/Tourism Committee and the Legislation Committee.

The mission of Midlands Community Foundation is to benefit the diverse needs of the Sarpy and Cass county communities by providing financial support, involvement and service.  Since its inception, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars to many worthy organizations with an emphasis toward prevention and education in the areas of health, art, culture, community, education, economic development and human services.
